Many experts believe that LCD HDTV offers the best big screen images of any television set on today's market. LCD televisions are pricier than most DLP models and may be a little dimmer but not so you'll notice. But what is the latest in LCD HDTV technology? Not long after the release of its 50 inch plasma television Dell debuts its 37-inch W3706C widescreen LCD HDTV with WXGA display and 1080i support. The latest addition to its range of LDC televisions is the largest. It is smaller than the 50 inch plasma but with many similar features such as support of up to 1080i HDTV and dual HDMI inputs.

This latest model Dell LCD HDTV is manufactured around a WXGA display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, 500 cd/m2 brightness and 800:1 contrast ratio. This means the W3706C supports HDTV resolutions ranging from 480i through 480p, 720p and 1080i. It also features a range of connectivity options to suit your varying needs.

These include dual Composite, S-Video, Component and HDMI connectors. If you want to use the LCD HDTV with a computer you can do so without fuss. This LCD HDTV features a VGA connector. If you want to connect a DVI-enabled computer Dell sells a DVI-to-HDMI adapter separately. How does the audio quality on LCD HDTV measure up?

Dell's W3706C features eight RCA inputs and dual SPDIF coaxial inputs. It also offers single RCA port for audio output. The LCD has two detachable 15-watt speakers and SRS TruSurround support. Choose from stand, wall or TV-mounted audio options. The LCD HDTV set integrates an NTSC tuner and a hybrid NTSC/ATSC analog/digital tuner.

LCD HDTV options include picture-in-picture, picture-on-picture and picture-by-picture modes. This is because the model offers a variety of input options and dual tuners. The Dell W3706C will set you back around $2,150 USD. It is currently available in the United States.

An LCD based projection TV costs about half the amount of a plasma HDTV of the same size. This makes them affordable and practical solutions to your HDTV needs.
